Cobra gained a lot of popularity in 1994 with the King Cobra irons but they’ve also built a solid reputation for drivers too.
They’re a driver brand that has had some up and downs over the years but they always seem to produce good quality drivers and are often less expensive than other brands.
Despite frequently coming in at a lower price point, you can often find a Cobra driver on our yearly breakdown of the best drivers.

Current Cobra Driver Models
One of the great things about Cobra is that they tend to keep older models on the market longer than their competitors. This means that you can always find models from a year or two ago for a great price.
Here are the models that are currently listed on their website as currently available…
Aerojet
The Cobra Aerojet was designed with input from Bryson DeChambeau and long driver Kyle Berkshire for better aerodynamics and more ball speed off the face.
LTDx and LTDx MAX
The LTDx lineup of drivers from Cobra was among the most popular in 2022 and a big hit for Cobra.
Air X
The Air X drivers were a niche model that was designed to be super light to help golfers with slow swing speeds get more distance out of their driver. It comes in straight shaft and offset variations and is a great affordable option.
Radspeed
The Radspeed is an older model now, but still a great driver with good forgiveness and distance. If you can find one for a low price, it’s a great value.
Cobra Driver History
Cobra Golf opened its doors in 1973 when it was founded by Australian amateur golfer Thomas Crow.
In 1975 they developed the first “utility wood” called “the baffler.” It would later be re-released as a modern-day hybrid.
Their 1st driver was released in 1979 and was a 46-inch driver with a graphite head and shaft called “Long Tom.” This more or less began the Cobra brand of doing things a little differently than most.
Cobra made news in the mid-1980s when they became the first US-based club manufacturer that offered graphite shafts in both their drivers and irons as a stock option. This grew the brand in popularity among seniors and other golfers with slower swing speeds.
5 Year Cobra Driver Test
In the video below, Rick Shiels tested 5 years of Cobra drivers to see how they improved over the years.
The video is a little dated as the newest driver in the test is from 2018, but it shows how drivers progress year by year and how the improvements are often more incremental than massive with new technology.
